Salary: £42,000 to £44,000 per year

Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Merlyn Phoenix Limited, based in Cricklade, Swindon, is hiring HGV Class 1 drivers for tramping work. We have rapid growth projections and offer long-term careers for drivers working on our permanent contract with one of the world's largest online retailers.

HGV Driver Benefits

• Permanent contract with a base salary of £42,000 to £44,000, inclusive of night out money, based on one tramping tour per week

HGV Driver Requirements

• Willingness to be away in the truck for the week (tramping)
• Valid commercial Driving License with categories C / C+E
• Full Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
• Digital Tachograph / Smart Card
• Pass a background check as permitted by law
• Pass a standard drug and alcohol test as permitted by law
• Proficient in speaking and reading English
• Maximum of 6 penalty points on the Driver’s License, with no DD, DR, or IN endorsements

HGV Driver Responsibilities

• Use route navigation apps and local knowledge to deliver packages on time
• Interact professionally with clients’ colleagues and suppliers
• Complete daily maintenance checks on trucks and trailers, reporting issues promptly
• Report vehicle issues and delays in real time
• Drive in various weather conditions, including light snow
• Maintain electronic logs for routes and deliveries
