Dunbia is seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver in Preston to join a leading European food processing company. This role suits someone recently qualified, eager to gain experience and be trained. Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm with one Sunday every fortnight at double time.

Rate of pay is £16.56 per hour. Join a well-established transport team and develop skills in trailer movement, coordination with subcontractors, and adherence to health and safety standards while supporting efficient loading and yard

Aufgaben

• Move trailers within the Transport department in a timely, efficient manner.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors' vehicles and liaise with other departments.
• Adhere to Health and Safety, Hygiene rules and PPE requirements.
• Operate equipment safely and in line with policies and procedures.
• Provide trailers for loading for Retail/Abattoir and remove after loading.
• Supervise yard activity and park vehicles safely when not in use.
• Check trailer temperatures on bays or electrical points.
• Maintain a list of yard trailers and report to the Transport Manager.
• Fill the changeover list for the next shunter (trailers, temperatures, load status).

We are actively seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver keen to take up a career within one of Europe’s leading food processing companies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and learn new skills and gain new opportunities. This role would be an ideal position for a recently qualified Class 1 Driver who is looking to gain experience and be trained.

Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm plus 1 Sunday every fortnight at Double time.

Rate of Pay - £16.56ph

Responsibilities

• Working within the Transport department to ensure the movement of trailers is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Liaising with different departments and coordinating sub-contractors’ vehicles.
• Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, including PPE.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• To provide trailers for loading for both Retail/Abattoir & remove when loaded.
• To supervise yard activity, and position vehicles when not in use safely in the yard.
• To check temperatures of all trailers loaded on bays or on electrical points.
• To provide a list of trailers present in the yard to the Transport Manager.
• Fill in changeover list for the next shunter, i.e. what trailers are in the yard, what temperature they are running at, and where they are loaded for, and any empties.
