Job summary

Rapier is recruiting HGV Class 1 Shunters for a busy supermarket distribution site in Daventry. This night-shift role is 18:00–06:00 on a 4 on/4 off pattern, at £22.41 per hour with holiday included.

You will move trailers around the site, ensure correct positioning for loading and unloading, and follow all safety procedures. The role requires a valid HGV Class 1 licence, at least 12 months driving experience, and the ability to follow electronic movement instructions using the C3 system.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence required.
• Minimum 12 months HGV driving experience.
• Experience in shunting is desirable.
• Good understanding of trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Capable of following electronic movement instructions using C3.
• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
• Professional approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Move and position trailers and containers around the site.
• Move trailers on and off loading bays.
• Connect and disconnect trailers safely.
• Carry out trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Position trailers for loading and unloading.
• Move trailers between designated areas on site.
• Use the C3 terminal to receive and complete tasks.
• Follow movement instructions via the C3 system.
• Communicate with transport and warehouse teams.
• Follow site traffic management and health & safety procedures.
• Maintain high safety and vehicle/site standards.

The Role

As an HGV Shunter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the distribution site, ensuring trailers are correctly positioned and ready for loading and unloading.

Duties include:

• Moving and positioning trailers and containers around the site.
• Moving trailers on and off loading bays.
• Connecting and disconnecting trailers safely.
• Carrying out trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Positioning trailers correctly for loading and unloading.
• Moving trailers between designated areas of the site.
• Using the C3 terminal within the Tug to receive and complete movement tasks.
• Following movement instructions through the C3 system.
• Communicating with the transport and warehouse teams.
• Following all site traffic management and health & safety procedures.
• Ensuring all movements are completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining a high standard of vehicle and site safety.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
