Job summary

Rapier is seeking HGV Class 1 Shunters for a busy Daventry distribution site. The role involves safe trailer movements, loading/unloading preparation, and adherence to C3-driven movement tasks within a 4 on/4 off, 12-hour night pattern.

Applicants should have a valid HGV Class 1 licence and at least 12 months of driving experience; shunting experience is desirable. Strong safety awareness and reliability are essential for success in this busy environment.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Minimum 12 months HGV driving experience.
• Previous shunting experience is desirable.
• Good understanding of trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Able to follow electronic movement instructions using C3.

Responsibilities

• Move and position trailers and containers around the site.
• Move trailers on and off loading bays.
• Connect and disconnect trailers safely.
• Carry out trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Position trailers for loading and unloading.
• Move trailers between designated areas of the site.
• Use the C3 terminal to receive and complete movement tasks.
• Follow movement instructions through the C3 system.
• Communicate with transport and warehouse teams.
• Follow all site traffic management and health & safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle and site safety.

HGV 1 Shunters Required

Location: Daventry

Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off

Shift Length: 12 Hours

NIGHTS: 18:00 - 0600 - £22.41 ph ( Holiday included)

We are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 Shunters for a busy supermarket distribution site in Daventry.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure long-term, ongoing work with a consistent 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, offering excellent work-life balance and regular hours.

The Role

As an HGV Shunter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the distribution site, ensuring trailers are correctly positioned and ready for loading and unloading.

Duties include:

• Moving and positioning trailers and containers around the site.
• Moving trailers on and off loading bays.
• Connecting and disconnecting trailers safely.
• Carrying out trailer and vehicle safety checks.
• Positioning trailers correctly for loading and unloading.
• Moving trailers between designated areas of the site.
• Using the C3 terminal within the Tug to receive and complete movement tasks.
• Following movement instructions through the C3 system.
• Communicating with the transport and warehouse teams.
• Following all site traffic management and health & safety procedures.
• Ensuring all movements are completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining a high standard of vehicle and site safety.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
