Job summary

Simarco International in Witham, Essex, is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 or Class 2 Tramping Drivers for day driving. You will operate between Witham and Stoke, with overnights during the week and home on Friday or Saturday.

You’ll drive top-of-the-range vehicles equipped with home comforts and enjoy weekends at home. The role offers a highly competitive salary (£39,988 per year) plus overtime/overnight payments, 25 days leave plus bank holidays, and a company pension.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) Licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tacho Card.
• Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience essential, ideally including tramping.
• Good understanding of vehicle weights, legal limits and load security.
• Knowledge of Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive Regulations and Road Traffic Laws.
• Understanding of Construction and Use Regulations.
• Confident working independently and managing time effectively.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer service.
• Flexible, reliable and dependable, with a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out deliveries and collections of customer freight, including regular journeys between Witham and Stoke (Tramping).
• Ensure all goods are safely loaded, secured and transported to minimise damage.
• Check the correct goods and quantities are loaded and unloaded.
• Plan routes efficiently, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
• Complete all relevant delivery paperwork and POD documentation.
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Office, reporting any delays or issues.
• Keep your vehicle clean, tidy and well maintained, both inside and out.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and refuelling in line with company procedures.
• Maintain high standards of road safety and compliance at all times.
