Drivers Today is recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 / Category C+E Night Driver for an established operation in Telford, Shropshire. This is a permanent opportunity after an initial agency period of around three months, with the option to move onto a permanent contract.

You will perform night trunking and shunting duties, ensuring safety and on-time deliveries while maintaining a consistent schedule and familiar routes.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 / Category C+E licence.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 1 driving experience.
• Confidence with trailer coupling and uncoupling.
• Trunking or shunting experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of drivers' hours regulations.
• Reliable attendance and timekeeping.
• Comfortable working permanent night shifts.
• A professional and safety-conscious attitude.

Responsibilities

• HGV Class 1 driving and night trunking between depots.
• Shunting and moving trailers as part of a busy night operation.
• Trailer collections and deliveries and routing to hubs.
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers safely and efficiently.
• Daily vehicle and trailer safety checks and paperwork.
• Collaborating with the night transport team and adhering to tachograph rules.

Drivers Today are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 / Category C+E Night Driver for an established transport operation based in Telford, Shropshire.

This is an opportunity for a driver who wants to settle into a permanent position, with regular night shifts, familiar work and the security of a long-term job.

You’ll initially work through Drivers Today for approximately three months, with the intention of moving directly onto a permanent contract with the company following successful completion of the probationary period.

The Work – Night Trunking & Shunting

You’ll be carrying out a mixture of HGV Class 1 trunking and shunting duties, supporting a busy night transport operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• HGV Class 1 / Category C+E driving
• Night trunking between depots and hubs
• Shunting and moving trailers
• Trailer collections and deliveries
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers
• Daily vehicle and trailer safety checks
• Completing transport paperwork
• Working closely with the night transport team
• Following drivers' hours and tachograph regulations

This is ideal for drivers who prefer structured, familiar workrather than constantly changing delivery routes.

Pay Rates – Agency & Permanent

First 3 Months – Working Through Drivers Today

• £14.91 per hour for the first 40 hours per week, including rolled-up holiday pay
• £22.37 per hour for hours worked over 40 per week, including rolled-up holiday pay
• Weekly pay during your agency assignment

Once Permanent With the Company

• £13.30 per hour for the first 40 hours per week
• £19.95 per hour for hours worked over 40 per week
• Direct employment with the company
• Paid annual leave in accordance with your permanent contract
• Ongoing, regular employment
