Job summary

Lockwood Group is recruiting experienced HGV drivers based at S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL (Thurrock). The role covers general haulage with a Monday–Friday night shift, 44 hours per week and a guaranteed pay structure. Rate is £17 per hour, with early start bonuses and night out allowances.

Training opportunities and a modern fleet are available within a supportive team environment. Ideal candidates will hold HGV Class 1 (C+E), CPC, Digi card and have a good grasp of Tachograph and WTD rules.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, Digi card and good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• Reliable, punctual with flexible approach; good verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage duties.
• Maintain excellent levels of customer service.
• Ensure accurate and timely communication with the Transport team.
• Deliver goods in a timely and professional manner.

Job description

Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 400 employees spanning 8 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions.

S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England.

New business developments on the horizon are allowing us to recruit experienced HGV drivers. We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.

Shift Pattern:

Monday - Friday Nights

Hours:

44 hours guarenteed pay per week, based on a full time working week. Salary range based on on target earnings. Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.

Rate:

£17.00 per hour

The Role

• General Haulage

Ideally the candidates would meet the following requirements:

• Candidates will be a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• You will be reliable and punctual and have a flexible approach
• Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
• Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
