Job summary

QS Recruitment is representing a Sheffield-based client seeking an HGV Class 1 Driver. The role covers trunking to RDCs/NDCs nationwide with night shifts, Monday–Friday, 18:00 starts or early mornings depending on deliveries. You will perform vehicle checks and maintain documentation per guidelines.

Open to UK applicants only, full-time ongoing work with a consistent schedule. Salary is paid per hour with night shift premiums and a 23 August 2026 closing date.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid HGV Class 1 licence.
• Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Full UK CPC qualification required.
• Penalties: no more than 6 points on Licence.
• Minimum 12 months experience with Class 1 licence.

Responsibilities

• Trunking to RDCs/NDCs nationwide each evening, Mon-Fri.
• No handball; vehicle loaded/unloaded by forklift.
• Carry out pre-delivery vehicle checks and complete paperwork.

Our client established itself in 1946 as a full load steel haulier, but with local steel production falling in the 1980’s, the company moved towards a more flexible groupage offering with the business expanding with the acquisition of the 3-acre Birley Vale site. They then became a shareholding member of the Palletline network in 1995, enabling the business to offer an even broader range of services to both new and existing customers. As a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for trunking to RDC’s and NDC’s nationwide each evening Monday to Friday collecting pallets from a Palletline Distribution Centre before bringing back to the depot in Sheffield. No Handball as you will be loaded and unloaded by a forklift.

All drivers will be expected to carry out vehicle checks prior to deliveries and complete all paperwork in line with company guidelines.

Contract Type: Temporary

Hourly Rate: Earn £19.00 per hour for consistent night work with a reliable Monday to Friday schedule.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday night shifts with a consistent 18:00 start time or days starting 0500 - 0800 then finihsing around 8-10 hours depending on the amount of deliveries and driving hours, providing a reliable routine and steady weekly hours.
