Job summary

The Lockwood Group in Ambergate is recruiting for professional HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers. Join a family-run business with a modern fleet, extensive training, and a generous bonus structure. Base salary is £31,574.40 with realistic OTE £41,868 and a Grade A bonus up to £2,400 per annum.

Typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 44 hours, with excellent progression opportunities. The company offers funded CPC training, 28 days’ leave, pension, PPE, and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, valid CPC, and valid Digi card.
• Good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• Previous Class 1 experience preferred but not essential.
• Newly passed Class 1 HGV drivers welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent customer service, deliver goods timely and professionally, and communicate with Transport team.
• Use of the latest technology including electronic POD devices and walk-around checks.
• Ensure accurate, timely communication and adherence to schedules.

What You Can Earn

• Basic Salary: £31,574.40 (Based on a minimum 44-hour week at £13.80 per hour)

• Realistic OTE: £41,868.00 (Based on an average 55 hour week + achieving a monthly Grade A bonus)

• Performance Bonus: Graded driver performance bonus (Grade A–D) worth up to£2,400.00 per annum

The Role

• Schedule: Monday to Friday (44 hours basic week)

• Work Type: General Haulage

• Tech-Driven: Use of the latest technology, including electronic POD devices and electronic walk-around checks

• Key Focus: Maintain excellent customer service, deliver goods in a timely and professional manner, and ensure accurate, timely communication with the Transport team
