Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd, on behalf of our client in Rugby, is seeking multiple HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E). No experience required, with free onsite refresher training for newly qualified drivers. Hours include days/nights across Monday to Sunday, with an average shift length of 12 hours.

Pay rates vary by day: Mon-Thu £15.50-£19.72, Fri £16.46-£20.52, Sat £16.76-£21.91, Sun £19.55-£23.12, with a £2 uplift from 22.11.2026. Location: Rugby, CV23.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• Valid and up-to-date DCPC (Driver CPC) and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Successful completion of a driving assessment (theory and practical).
• Full understanding of Working Time Directive (WTD).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Trunking between depots, ensuring timely and safe parcel deliveries.
• Collect parcels from customers, including full trailer collections and drop & swap operations.
• Handle occasional push roller cages and assist sites with movement when required.
• Reverse in yards and manoeuvre vehicles with precision; shunting duties when required.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations and company policies for safety on the road.
• Maintain effective communication with dispatch and logistics teams for timely deliveries.

Hours: Days/Nights across Monday to Sunday with various start times available, average shift length of 12 hours.

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• Valid and up-to-date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Successful completion of assessment, including a theory element, which is two questionnaires based on drivers' hours and road laws, and a practical element, which will be based on yard reversing and a short driving test.
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.
