Job summary

TRCGroup is recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver (C+E) in Preston. Role involves mainly collections with some deliveries, plus loading/unloading duties and team collaboration for efficient operations.

Shifts are Monday to Friday with pay £18.35 per hour PAYE and overtime at £27.53 after 40 hours. Valid DCPC, Tachograph card, and a clean licence are required.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• Minimum 6 months proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid and in-date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Mainly collections with some deliveries (6-10 collections and 1-5 deliveries).
• Manual handling required for loading/unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely collections/deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain safety on the road.
• Communicate with dispatch and logistics teams for timely deliveries and pickups.

Shifts: Monday to Friday
Hours: 09:00am
Pay Rate: £18.35 per hour PAYE with overtime at £27.53 after 40 hours

The Role:

• Mainly collections with some deliveries (6- 10 collections and 1-5 deliveries).


• Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.


• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.


• Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.


• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.


• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.


• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).


• Have at least 6 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle (if less than 12 months, assessment will be required).


• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
