Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd, on behalf of our client based in Preston, is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers (Cat C+E) to join the team. The role involves collections and some deliveries, loading/unloading, and working with depot staff to keep timely collections and deliveries.

Shifts Monday to Friday, 09:00 start, pay £18.35 per hour PAYE with overtime at £27.53 after 40 hours. Candidates require full UK licence with C+E, DCPC, tachograph, and no more than 6 points.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• Minimum 6 months proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mainly collections with some deliveries (6-10 collections and 1-5 deliveries).
• Manual handling required for loading/unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely collections/deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle for roadworthiness and compliance.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain safety on the road.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

The Role:

• Mainly collections with some deliveries (6- 10 collections and 1-5 deliveries).
• Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.
• Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.
• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• Have at least 6 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle (if less than 12 months, assessment will be required).
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
