Job summary

Uniserve is seeking a HGV Class 1 Driver to safely deliver goods across multiple locations, typically 2–3 drops per day with occasional overnight stays. You will conduct vehicle checks, manage documentation, and maintain high service standards.

Role requires a valid Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, Tachograph card, and proven UK driving experience. Monday–Friday shifts in Corby with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification is required.
• Digital Tachograph Card holder is essential.
• Prior Class 1 driving experience is preferred.
• Good knowledge of UK road network and geography.
• Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regs.
• Ability to manage time independently.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle checks and keep vehicles roadworthy.
• Complete 2–3 drops per day with accurate documentation.
• Deliver goods safely and to customer requirements.
• Use handheld devices for delivery documentation where required.
• Comply with Hours, Working Time, and Road Transport laws.
• Maintain liaison with traffic office on progress and delays.
• Ensure loads are secured and safe loading practices followed.
• Provide excellent customer service and professional conduct.
• Report defects or incidents promptly.
• Keep vehicle clean and presentable; accommodate overnight stays as needed.

Description

Uniserve is seeking a HGV Class 1 Driver to safely and efficiently deliver customer goods (2 to 3 deliveries per day) across multiple delivery locations while maintaining excellent service standards.

Salary: £41,791 annual

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant at all times
• Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections, typically 2 to 3 drops per day
• Deliver goods safely, securely, and in accordance with customer requirements
• Accurately complete all delivery documentation and use handheld devices where required
• Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport legislation
• Maintain communication with the traffic office regarding delivery progress, delays, or issues
• Secure loads correctly and carry out all required load checks during the journey
• Provide excellent customer service and act as a professional ambassador for the company
• Report vehicle defects, incidents, accidents, or near misses promptly
• Keep the vehicle clean and presentable
• Complete overnight stays (typically 2-3 nights per week) in line with operational requirements
• Compliance and Safety Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Comply with company policies, customer site rules, and industry regulations
• Ensure safe loading and unloading practices are followed at all times
• Wear appropriate PPE when required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous Class 1 driving experience
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network
• Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
