Job summary

Uniserve is seeking a reliable HGV Class 1 Night Driver for our Warrington operation. The role involves 4 on 4 off 12-hour night shifts, delivering to customer stores with various trailers and tail-lift operations. You will handle cages, unload and reload, and maintain safety and compliance throughout deliveries.

Night duties require independence, sound decision-making, and adherence to site procedures. Competitive pay and regular reviews are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Holder of valid UK Class 1 C+E licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification card.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Good understanding of Drivers Hours, WTD and road transport compliance.
• Physically able to move cages and undertake manual handling.
• Flexible approach to start times, shift patterns and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 C+E vehicles in line with legal, customer and company requirements.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly using the required reporting process.
• Deliver cages into customer stores using tail lift equipment where required.
• Complete night deliveries to closed stores responsibly and independently, following all site access, safety and security procedures.
• Manually unload loaded cages from trailers and move them safely into store delivery areas.
• Reload empty cages onto the trailer for return movement.
• Operate trailers safely, including fixed deck and moving deck double deck trailers where required by the operation.
• Complete all delivery paperwork, PODs and electronic records accurately and on time.
• Maintain compliance with Drivers Hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph rules.
• Communicate delays, issues or changes with transport planners and site teams.
• Represent Uniserve professionally with high safety and customer service standards.

HGV Class 1 Night Driver

Compensation: £50,020 / year

Description

Uniserve is seeking reliable and experienced Class 1 C+E Night Drivers to support our Warrington operation. The role involves day driving on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, delivering to customer stores using trailers that may include double deck operation, including fixed deck and moving deck trailers. Drivers will complete store deliveries, unload cages using tail lift equipment and reload empty cages for return.

Night deliveries will be made to closed stores, requiring drivers to work responsibly, independently and in line with site and customer procedures. Drivers must be confident managing their own safety, security and decision-making while completing deliveries out of hours.

Salary: £50,020 per annum

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts, paid breaks

Available start times are 11pm

This role is physically demanding. Drivers must be comfortable moving loaded and empty cages, using tail lift equipment, working in store delivery areas and safely handling freight in line with manual handling procedures.
