Job summary

Uniserve is recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver for our Northampton operation. You will deliver and collect goods, act as a brand ambassador, and adapt to flexible start times on a Monday–Friday, 12-hour shifts with a 1-hour unpaid break.

You will hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, and Digital Tachograph Card, with knowledge of UK transport laws and experience with digital systems. A reliable team player with strong customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence is required.
• Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation.
• Proficient with multiple digital systems (apps).
• Flexible approach to start times and workload.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Experience with Transport Management Systems (desirable).
• Experience with variable delivery schedules (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles from the Northampton site.
• Complete deliveries and collections per customer requirements and SLAs.
• Act as a professional ambassador at customer locations.
• Adapt to varying start times in response to delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate records in digital systems and paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with Regulations & Legislation.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
• Communicate with transport planners, supervisors and site teams.
• Report defects, incidents or accidents promptly.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and site rules.

Uniserve is a leading provider of innovative supply chain solutions, delivering excellence across global logistics. We are recruiting a reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to provide a safe, reliable, and customer-focused Class 1 driving service from the Northampton operation.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 12-hour shifts, including 1-hour unpaid break (11 hours working time)

Various start times to meet the needs of deliveries and operational demand

Flexibility is a key requirement of this role

Key Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles safely and professionally from the Northampton site
• Complete deliveries and collections in line with customer requirements and service level agreements
• Demonstrate a strong customer-focused approach at all customer locations, acting as a professional ambassador for the business
• Adapt to varying start times in response to changing delivery schedules
• Accurately complete all required tasks across multiple digital systems
• Ensure all driving activity complies with Regulations & Legislation
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and defect reporting in line with company procedures
• Complete all paperwork and electronic records accurately and on time
• Communicate effectively with transport planners, supervisors, and site teams
• Report defects, incidents, near misses, or accidents promptly
• Comply fully with all company Health & Safety policies and site rules
• Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others
• Participate in toolbox talks, audits, and mandatory training as required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required

• Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation
• App-literate and confident using multiple digital systems
• Flexible approach to start times and workload
• Strong customer service focus
• Experience working with Transport Management Systems (TMS) - Desirable
• Previous experience working to variable delivery schedules - Desirable
• Distribution or trunking experience - Desirable
• High attention to detail, particularly with compliance and digital records
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
