Job summary

Major Recruitment are seeking Class 1 drivers (HGV 1) for a client-based role in Normanton. The position offers full-time hours with shifts starting around 03:00–06:00 and potential for ongoing/permanent work.

You will deliver palletised goods to retail stores across the UK using curtain side, box, and deck trailers, with unloading often requiring FLT or pump truck. Pay is £18.50 per hour (including upfront holiday pay).

Qualifications

• Valid CE Licence (HGV Class 1).
• DQC Card.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• No more than 6 points for minor offences (no IN, DD, DR).

Responsibilities

• Deliver palletised goods to retail stores across the UK.
• Use curtain side and box trailers, including single and double deck trailers.
• Unloading often requires FLT; some sites use a pump truck.
• Attend induction at start of first shift; PPE and safety boots required.

Job description

Using both curtain side and box trailers and a mix of single and double deck trailers, to deliver palletised goods to retail stores across the UK.

Pay: £18.50 per hour (Including Optional Upfront Holiday Pay) Weekly Pay | PAYE | Temp to perm opportunities available

The Role:

• AM shifts - 03:00 - 06:00 Mon-Fri or 4 on 4 off
• Average shift length 9 - 10 hours
• 1-3 deliveries per shift on average
• Majority of stores are FLT unload but there are some where you will need to use pump truck to support unloading
• Immediate Start
• Ongoing Role with potential for Permanent Employment

To be considered for this role you must have:

• A valid CE Licence (HGV Class 1)
• DQC Card
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 driving experience
• Excellent communication skills
• No more than 6 points for minor offences (no IN, DD, DR endorsements)

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
