Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician at the West Midlands Workshop on a permanent contract. You’ll perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles and mechanical equipment, using your own toolkit and access to specialist workshop tooling.

The role requires a full UK manual driving licence (HGV preferred) and flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern. Salary around £40,906 with allowances, plus pension and training opportunities.

• You'll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.
• Qualified mechanic: you're fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You've got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you're able to work on a flexible shift rota. You're always willing to support your team where necessary.

We're recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at West Midlands Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.

Working Hours

Full time

• 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00-14:30, week 2: 06:00-14:30 and week 3: 14:00-22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off). Optional Sunday overtime is available.
