Job summary

Our client, a major company based in Bedford, is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver/Shunter for ongoing night trunking shifts. You will perform trunking runs, conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with regulations while maintaining professional communication with depots and customers.

The role requires a valid HGV Class 1 licence, CPC, tachograph card and a minimum of 6 years of UK driving experience, with a maximum of 6 points.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence required.
• Minimum 6 years driving experience in the UK.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Maximum of 6 points on your driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HGV Class 1 trunking work safely and efficiently.
• Complete scheduled trunking runs between designated locations.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.
• Ensure all journeys are completed in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
• Complete relevant delivery and vehicle documentation accurately.
• Comply with drivers' hours, tachograph and road safety regulations.
• Maintain professional communication with depot staff, customers and other road users.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures.
