Job summary

Leicestershire County Council’s Culture Leicestershire team is seeking a specialist Transport Officer to securely move and transport museum, library, archive, and art collections between venues, schools, and communities. You may be the ambassador who represents our service while handling delicate objects, exhibitions and equipment across the country.

The role requires a valid full driving licence (Category C1), experience in driving and transporting goods, and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Valid full driving licence and eligibility to drive a category C1 vehicle.
• Experience of driving and transporting goods.
• Good customer care skills with colleagues and the public.
• Ability to plan own time and keep written records and be numerate.
• Knowledge of Road Traffic Legislation and the Highway Code; basic vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to plan efficient routes and adhere to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely moving and transporting museum, archive, library and art collections between venues.
• Delivering and collecting objects to schools, community venues and galleries nationwide.
• Representing Culture Leicestershire as an ambassador for the service.
• Maintain records, logs and delivery notes; ensure health and safety standards.
