Job summary

Leicestershire County Council’s Culture Leicestershire is seeking a specialist transport officer to securely move and transport museum, archive, library and art collections between venues, including exhibitions and equipment. You may visit schools and communities, and from homes or businesses as needed; you’ll be a key ambassador for the service.

The role requires a valid driving licence, safe driving experience, strong customer care, and the ability to plan routes and maintain clear records.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid full driving licence and be eligible to drive a category C1 vehicle.
• Experience of driving and transporting goods (3.5 tonne Luton van with tail lift).
• Provide quality customer care with diverse colleagues and the public.
• Plan and manage own time to meet service needs; keep written records and be numerate.
• Knowledge of road traffic legislation and the Highway Code; basic vehicle maintenance.
• Plan and manage efficient routes considering mileage and time for service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport and move museum, archive, library and art collections between venues.
• Deliver to schools, community venues and galleries; collect from various locations.
• Act as ambassador for Culture Leicestershire when engaging with the public and partners.
