Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting a specialist transport officer to securely move and transport museum, archive, library and art collections between venues across Leicestershire and beyond. The role requires a valid driving licence and experience handling diverse artefacts, with an DBS enhanced check required for regulated activity.

The post is permanent, part-time (29.6 hours per week, four days) with pro rata pay for part-time staff, based at County Hall, Leicestershire.

Qualifications

• Valid full driving licence and eligibility to drive a category C1 vehicle.
• Experience in providing quality customer care with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to plan and manage time to meet service needs and keep records.
• Knowledge of Road Traffic Legislation & Highway Code, basic vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to plan and manage efficient routes considering mileage and time.
• Awareness of Health & Safety in the Workplace, hazard identification, risk assessment.
• With training, ability to move and handle specialist loads including museum/archival objects.

Responsibilities

• Safely transporting museum, archive, library and art collections between venues.
• Delivering and collecting objects to schools, venues and private addresses as required.
• Acting as an ambassador for the service when interacting with the public.
