Job summary

National Museum Directors' Council is seeking an exceptional Buildings & Contracts Manager to lead the care, maintenance and development of our historic property portfolio. You will oversee major restoration, fire safety improvements and infrastructure upgrades to safeguard heritage assets.

In this strategic yet hands-on role you will plan and deliver maintenance programmes, manage capital projects and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure buildings remain safe, sustainable and fit

Qualifications

Knowledgeable property professional with a passion for heritage buildings and a track record delivering maintenance and capital projects.
Experience preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
Sound knowledge of planning legislation, listed buildings and heritage regulations.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead planned, preventive and reactive maintenance across historic sites.
Develop and implement a five-year maintenance strategy balancing conservation, sustainability and value for money.
Commission and manage condition surveys to inform long-term asset planning and investment.
Oversee conservation, repair and improvement projects from concept to completion using the RIBA Plan of Work.
