Job summary

National Museums is seeking an exceptional Buildings & Contracts Manager to lead care, maintenance and development of our historic property portfolio. You will drive major restoration, fire safety improvements and infrastructure upgrades to protect heritage assets for future generations.

This strategic and hands-on role combines planning with delivery, coordinating specialists, contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance, conservation and repair.
• Experience preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
• Knowledge of planning legislation, listed buildings and heritage regulations.
• Able to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.

Responsibilities

• Leading and delivering planned, preventative and reactive maintenance programmes across our historic sites.
• Developing and implementing a five-year maintenance strategy that balances conservation, sustainability and value for money.
• Commissioning and managing condition surveys, using findings to inform long-term asset planning and investment.
• Overseeing conservation, repair and improvement projects from concept through to completion, following the RIBA Plan of Work.
