Job summary

Holcim UK at Torr Works in Somerset seeks a hands-on operator to run heavy mobile plant and support multiple production areas, including crushing, washing, and control rooms. You will perform pre-start checks, identify defects, and keep your equipment and workspace safe and tidy.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and the ability to adapt to rotating shifts, with on-site training provided and opportunities for progression within the Holcim group.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and be trained on site
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Solid focus on safety and attention to detail
• Flexibility to work rotating day shifts (05:00–13:30) and afternoon shifts (13:30–23:00), plus select Saturdays
• Experience in a quarry or heavy industry is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy mobile plant safely and efficiently (e.g., loading shovels, ADTs)
• Support production across the site, including crusher, wash plant and control room
• Perform pre-start checks and identify defects to keep equipment and workspace clean and safe
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and teammates to keep operations running smoothly
• Follow all site safety and environmental procedures
