Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking a hands-on Quarry Operator at Torr Works, their flagship site in Somerset. You will load, crush, wash, and manage stockpiles, rotating through primary crusher, wash plant, and control room while maintaining safety and efficiency.

This role offers training, a strong team environment, and opportunities to progress within a global leader in sustainable building solutions.

Qualifications

• A positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in—we'll handle the training.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Focus on safety and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts (day and afternoon patterns) Mon–Fri, with occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Operating heavy mobile plant safely and efficiently (Loading Shovels, ADTs, and more).
• Supporting production across the site, including key areas like the crusher, wash plant, and control room.
• Conducting pre-start checks, identifying defects, and ensuring your kit and workspace are clean, tidy, and safe.
• Communicating closely with supervisors and teammates to keep operations running smoothly.
• Following all site safety and environmental procedures - safety always comes first.
