Job summary

Dudley Council is seeking a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to maintain a diverse fleet at Lister Road Depot, Dudley. The role is full-time onsite with a 37-hour week, plus a 10% shift allowance and a monthly tool allowance of £29.90. Applicants should have a City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in HGV maintenance and an LGV Cat C licence, or be willing to obtain it within 6 months.

Salary is Grade 8 plus allowances. You will work with a small team to ensure compliance with the Operator Licence and safety

Qualifications

• Heavy Goods Vehicle mechanic qualification required (City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3).
• LGV Category C Licence, or willingness to train and pass within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment using appropriate tools.
• Conduct fault diagnostic checks on vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Prepare and take vehicles for MOT testing.
• Participate in vehicle breakdown service.
• Participate in winter maintenance operations.

Job Opportunity: Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic

Salary: Grade 8 plus tool and shift allowance

This is an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic who is wanting to work as part of a small, dedicated team providing maintenance and repairs to a diverse range of vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with the requirements of the Councils Operator Licence .

The applicant will be able to demonstrate the right behaviours and values to work as part of a team and be customer focussed and committed to providing a quality service .

A good understanding of MOT regulations would be advantageous as well as Health and Safety procedures.

Activities include:

• Inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment using appropriate tools, equipment and facilities in a safe and proper manner
• Conducting fault diagnostic checks on vehicles, plant and equipment
• Preparing and taking vehicles for MOT testing
• To participate in a vehicle breakdown service
• To participate in winter maintenance operations

Interested candidates should possess:

• City and Guilds Qualification in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles or equivalent NVQ at Level 3
• LGV Category C Licence (or willing to be trained and pass within 6 months of employment)
