Irlam Associates Ltd, acting on behalf of a client, is recruiting an HGV Technician to service, inspect, diagnose and repair heavy goods vehicles. You will work to high safety standards and support fleet availability by promptly addressing faults and maintenance needs.

The role involves routine servicing, diagnostic work and repairs to commercial vehicles, with an emphasis on accuracy, efficiency and teamwork within the workshop environment.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out servicing and safety inspections on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.

• Maintain accurate inspection sheets and maintenance records.
• Work with teams to prioritise repairs and minimise downtime.

Irlam Associates specialises in recruitment across transport, logistics and supply chain. We are recruiting an HGV Technician on behalf of our client to support the maintenance, safety and reliability of their commercial vehicle fleet.

The Role

You will carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on HGVs, ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard and returned to service safely and efficiently. Working closely with the workshop and transport teams, you will help minimise vehicle downtime and maintain fleet availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and rectify identified defects.
• Repair braking, suspension, steering, transmission and associated vehicle systems.
• Identify and report defects, escalating safety concerns promptly.
• Complete accurate inspection sheets, job cards and maintenance records.
• Work with the workshop and transport teams to prioritise repairs and minimise downtime.
• Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• A recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience carrying out HGV servicing, inspections and repairs.
• A good understanding of vehicle roadworthiness and workshop safety standards.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable approach, strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
• An HGV driving licence would be advantageous.

Up to £51,000 (DOE)
