Descripción del empleo

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join our team within the Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre. The Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre is an outpatient service which provides patients with a high standard of diabetes care with a view to improving both health and quality of life.

We have a firmly established multi-professional approach to care delivery with both Consultant and Specialist Nurses delivering clinics. We aim to educate and inform patients, their families, and carers for them to make choices about their individual health care needs and support them with self‑management of their diabetes. Our Healthcare Support Workers help us to deliver this service and are involved in clinic processing, preparing patients for their appointments and uploading technology used in diabetes care so, attention to documentation and a basic understanding of computers/software is vital. We are ideally looking for someone with experience of phlebotomy however training would be given.

This is a substantive position working 23.25 hours over 3 weekdays. However, this would need a degree of flexibility to cover service needs.

Main duties of this role include carrying out clinical observations, venepuncture, glucose/ketone testing and diabetes technology downloading for patients in preparation for their clinic appointment with the medical/nursing specialist team. You will oversee and ensure the timely running of clinic and be part of daily checks, cleaning and stock replenishment as part of the team.

Our HCSW are one of the first members of our team that our patients will encounter when they attend their appointment and therefore a friendly, empathetic and caring nature is important. Good communication skills are essential and ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.

Part time: 23.25 hours per week

Please note that this advertised position, under occupation code 6131 does meet UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa.

HOWEVER the role is part time therefore DOES NOT MEET the salary threshold requirements set by the Home Office UKVI policy.

The Trust would NOT be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role*

*You must work a minimum 37.5 hours per week, have significant nursing/healthcare assistant experience to meet current Home Office UKVI policy regarding salary threshold requirements.
