What you will be doing:
You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with a range of Mental Health conditions, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recovery pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.
Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analyzing behaviors and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.
The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends, totaling 40 hours per week.
Public transport is limited to this site. You will ideally need to be a driver or live locally to Workington.
Where you will be working:
Location: Furness Road, Workington, Cumbria, CA14 3PD
You will be working at Gregory House, a Learning Disability and Autism service, providing care and support to 22 adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health needs.
You will work alongside the team to provide a specialized provision. The service has an enhanced level of support to care for individuals with challenging behaviors and high support needs in the least restrictive setting possible, within a robust and structured environment tailored to their ongoing needs and risks.
The service aims to enable people to lead meaningful lives, with choice and control, accessing mainstream services, engaging in work, training, leisure activities, hobbies, and personal interests. Gregory House encourages independence with the long-term goal of moving to more independent living settings.
