Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a part-time Support Services Assistant to deliver non-clinical support across hospital and healthcare environments. You will perform cleaning, catering support, patient clothing services and porter duties while following NHS Scotland standards and infection control requirements.

The role includes shift patterns Mon-Thu 16:00-19:00, Fri 16:00-18:30, permanent 14.5 hours per week at Thornliebank Health Centre, with comprehensive NHS employee

Qualifications

• Knowledge of integrated support services including cleaning, catering, laundry and porter duties (full induction training provided)
• Training in safe use of cleaning, catering, laundry and porter equipment
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures (training provided)
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations (training provided)
• Knowledge of Moving and Handling procedures (training provided)
• Basic Food Hygiene certification (training provided)
• Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices (training provided)
• Ability to follow schedules, procedures and quality standards
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties in line with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specifications and Infection Control standards
• Operate cleaning and catering equipment safely
• Support meal service and food preparation activities
• Assist with laundry and patient clothing services
• Provide porter and messenger support including transport of patients, mail, specimens, equipment and supplies
• Adhere to work schedules, COSHH regulations and departmental procedures
• Carry out waste management duties and maintain accurate records
• Report faults or concerns to supervisors and contribute to a safe environment
• Remain flexible to work across different departments and service areas
