Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) seeks a Laundry Assistant to support Hillington Central Laundry with a high-quality linen service. You will operate laundry machinery, meet production targets, and ensure linen is sorted, washed, dried and dispatched on time while maintaining health and safety standards.

Permanent, part-time 32 hours per week with listed shifts, compensation includes NHS benefits, generous leave, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Complete 9 to 12 week induction and training programme on all laundry equipment.
• Working knowledge of laundry machinery and health and safety procedures.
• Attend health and safety, infection control, and quality control training.
• Basic IT skills for operating laundry systems.
• Ability to check and audit own work for quality and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate laundry machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Meet and record production targets in line with standard operating procedures.
• Sort, wash, dry, finish, fold, pack and label linen.
• Monitor equipment performance and resolve minor faults and blockages.
• Prepare and dispatch completed linen orders.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and safety.
• Operate cleaning equipment, balers, and scissor lifts.
• Support continuous improvement, quality standards and efficient service delivery.
