Job summary

The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate, part of Circle Health Group, is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant for the Theatre department on a 12-month fixed term contract. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a salary up to £25,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.

You will assist in delivering safe, patient-centred care across the theatre pathway, prepare theatres, support infection control, and develop clinical skills through training and mentorship within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical or healthcare support role.
• Good communication skills with a patient-centred approach.
• Willingness to undertake training and competency development in theatre-specific care.
• Understanding of infection control and health and safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering safe and effective care across the theatre department and throughout the surgical pathway.
• Prepare theatres for procedures, including equipment checks and stock preparation.
• Engage with patients in a respectful and empathetic manner to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort.
• Maintain high standards of personal conduct and clinical care in line with CHG policies.
• Develop clinical and technical skills through training, mentorship and reflection.
• Contribute to a safe and efficient theatre environment through stock control and equipment turnover.

Healthcare Assistant - Theatre - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract The Duchy Hospital 37.5 Hours & Fixed Term Salary: Up to £25,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for an Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties

• Assist in delivering safe and effective care across the theatre department, supporting patients throughout their surgical pathway.
• Prepare theatres for procedures, including equipment checks, stock preparation, and ensuring the environment is clean and ready.
• Engage with patients in a respectful, dignified, and empathetic manner, helping to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort.
• Maintain a high standard of personal conduct and clinical care in accordance with CHG policies and the HCA framework.
• Take responsibility for developing your own clinical and technical skills through training, mentorship, and reflection.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient theatre environment through stock control, timely equipment turnover, and adherence to clinical standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a clinical or healthcare support role.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
• Willingness to undertake training and competency development in theatre-specific care.
• Understanding of infection control, safeguarding, and basic health and safety principles.
