Circle Health Group’s Duchy Hospital in Harrogate is seeking a Theatre Practitioner in orthopaedic scrub to join a dedicated theatre team. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours weekly and a salary up to £40,000, dependent on experience, training and qualifications.

The post requires registration (NMC or HCPC as applicable) and experience in a theatre environment specializing in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery. The role emphasizes infection control, patient safety and excellent teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Knowledge of infection control, manual handling and patient safety.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and anticipating surgeon needs.
• Support the anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, and manage pain and nausea.
• Ensure patient readiness for discharge and adherence to infection control policies.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Report faults in surgical and anaesthetic equipment and work within a multidisciplinary team.

The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Theatre Practitioner - Orthopaedic Scrub

The Duchy Hospital. 37.5 Hours & Permanent. Salary: Up to £40,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).

Duties Of This Role Include

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
