The role will involve a range of clinical duties including phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, NHS Health Checks, wound care and supporting the management of long-term conditions, depending on experience and competency.

The Healthcare Assistant will support the clinical team in delivering safe, effective and high-quality care to our patients.
The role will include a varied range of clinical activities, depending on the successful candidates experience, training and competencies. These may include phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, NHS and new patient health checks, wound care, spirometry, peak flow testing, diabetic checks, COPD monitoring, Learning Disability Health Checks and Smoking Cessation.
The post holder will also support the practice in the monitoring and management of long-term conditions and contribute towards achieving relevant QOF and practice targets.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage their workload effectively, maintain accurate clinical records using EMIS Web, follow practice policies and clinical procedures, and maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
You will work closely with GPs, nurses and the wider practice team, contributing to the efficient running of the service and providing a professional, caring and patient-focused experience.

Job PurposeThe HealthcareAssistant (HCA) will work as an important member of the multidisciplinaryprimary care team, supporting GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals indelivering safe, effective and high-quality care to our patients.
The post holderwill undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties appropriate totheir level of training, experience and demonstrated competency. They will workwithin agreed practice policies, protocols and procedures and will recognisethe limits of their role, seeking advice or referring to an appropriateclinician whenever necessary.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesUndertaking phlebotomy andrunning phlebotomy clinics.
Recording blood pressure,pulse, height, weight and BMI.
Performing and recording ECGs.
Undertaking NHS Health Checksand new patient health checks.
Supporting annual reviews andmonitoring of patients with long-term conditions, including diabetes and COPD,within agreed protocols and competencies.
Undertaking spirometry and peakflow measurements where appropriately trained and competent.
Providing basic and morecomplex wound care and dressings within the post holder's assessed competency.
Supporting Learning DisabilityHealthChecks and other practice health-check programmes.
Collecting and preparingspecimens in accordance with practice procedures.
Performing other clinicalobservations and investigations appropriate to the HCA role followingappropriate training and competency assessment.
Providing health promotion andlifestyle information to patients within the scope of the HCA role.
Supporting vaccination andimmunisation clinics where appropriate to the role, training and competency,and in accordance with current practice procedures.
Ensuring clinical rooms areappropriately prepared, clean and adequately stocked.
Checking and maintainingclinical equipment and reporting faults or concerns promptly.
Supporting infection preventionand control procedures.
The practice does not providean ear irrigation/syringing service, and this is not a requirement of the role.
