Job summary

A locum Healthcare Assistant position is available across GP practices, walk-in centres and urgent care settings in Northwest England. The role requires NHS experience, nursing registration and DBS checks, with supervision from a nurse or health professional.

The post is self-employed/locum and offers an hourly remuneration with flexible hours to suit practice needs across the Northwest region.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Nursing Degree recognised by the NMC.
  • Full registration with the NMC.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Right to Work in UK and provide two referees for contact.

Responsibilities

  • ECG recordings.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • 24 Hour BP monitoring and regular BP checks.
  • NHS health checks including 75+ Health Checks.
  • Vaccinations (flu, COVID) including B12 injections as required.
  • Height, Weight and BMI measurements.
  • MSU testing and vaccine fridge checks.
  • Stock rotation checks and monthly calibrations.
  • IGR reviews and diabetic monitoring.

Job description

Our Client is a NHS GP Practices in Liverpool, Merseyside. We're seeking to recruit an experienced Healthcare assistant with experience working in General Practice. This is a self-employed (locum) Contract, and you'll be expected to work across multiple Northwest England.

The post holder will be required to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously within the Clinical Governance Framework to ensure that Clinical Governance is embedded in your clinical practice. You will work under the direction, control and supervision of a qualified Nurse, or other Health Professional providing regulated activities. You will be working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in order to provide an optimum level of care to patients.

The post holder should meet the following criteria, and personal specification:

Clinical Responsibilities
  • ECG recordings
  • Phlebotomy
  • 24 Hour BP's & Normal BP monitoring
  • NHS health checks (incl 75+ Health Checks)
  • Vaccinations. Flu, and COVID as we are planning to give the covid vaccine annually just like we do with the flu vaccine, Incl B12 injections.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Must hold a Nursing Degree, qualification recognised by (NMC) (UK)
  • Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • RCN Membership, or valid indemnity insurance cover
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Right-to-Work in UK
  • Provide two referees we can contact for a reference
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties
  • Excellent manual dexterity and a compassionate bedside manner.
  • To deliver high-quality, comprehensive care to a diverse patient list
  • Refer complex cases outside your scope to Supervising Nurse, GPs as necessary
Compliance & Administration
  • Maintain accurate patient records using the practice’s electronic software
  • Adhere to infection control guidelines as dictated by HTM 01-05 and the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
  • Participate in clinical audits to sustain high standards of clinical governance
Team Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with the administrative and practice management staff
  • Support the delivery of policy and procedures whilst providing leadership to healthcare assistants and other workforce colleagues as required
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience with NHS clinical software (e.g., EMIS)
  • Good understanding, Knowledge of QOF
