Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is inviting applications for a Health Visitor to promote health and wellbeing from birth to school entry. You will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to support families and deliver evidence-based interventions across Glasgow and Clyde.

Applicants must hold an NMC pin, with post-registration Health Visiting qualifications and a Masters-level credential preferred. Flexible working arrangements and comprehensive NHS benefits are available.

Job description

The Role

As a Health Visitor within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in promoting the health, wellbeing and development of children from birth to school entry. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will build strong relationships with families, deliver evidence-based interventions and support positive outcomes for children. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

• Glasgow City HSCP
• Monday to Friday
• There are various full-time and part-time posts available in the North East, North West and South

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the named Health Visitor for children within your caseload, supporting their wellbeing from birth to school entry age
• Deliver the Universal Health Visiting Pathway, carrying out developmental and wellbeing assessments and making timely referrals where appropriate
• Work in partnership with families, empowering them through a strengths-based approach to improve outcomes for children
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to develop, implement and monitor child-focused plans
• Provide expert advice and support in relation to safeguarding, child protection and vulnerable families
• Maintain high standards of clinical practice, governance, record keeping and information sharing in line with professional and legal requirements
• Contribute to service improvement, clinical supervision, staff development and the delivery of safe, effective family-centred care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

• Registered Nurse or Midwife educated to degree level or equivalent and registered with the NMC
• Post‑registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing and registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register
• Educated to Master's level in a relevant nursing discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, early intervention, child protection and health and social care pathways
• Experience of managing a caseload, prioritising workload and meeting deadlines effectively
• Ability to assess risk, apply critical thinking and make sound professional decisions in complex situations
• Excellent communication skills with experience of working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children
