Job summary

NHSGGC in Scotland is recruiting a Community Nursery Nurse to join the East Renfrewshire HSCP Health Visiting Service. The post involves supporting children aged 0 to 5 and their families to improve health and wellbeing, delivering the Healthy Child Programme and GIRFEC guidance.

The role is permanent full-time (36 hours) with a Mon–Fri pattern, base in Barrhead, and requires SVQ3 or HNC in Child Care, teamwork, strong communication, and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 or HNC in Child Care/Childhood Practice.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks in a busy environment.
• Capable of working independently without direct supervision.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support children and families to improve health and wellbeing as part of the Health Visiting Team.
• Contribute to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and GIRFEC objectives.
• Assess health needs and identify vulnerabilities in children aged 0 to 5 years.
• Deliver targeted interventions to meet the needs of children and families.
• Provide high-quality care and support for children with neurodevelopmental differences and additional support needs.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support for families.
• Assist in the delivery of the Psychology of Parenting Programme (PoPP).
• Maintain effective communication with families, colleagues, and external partners.
• Manage a varied workload and work independently when required.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Nursery Nurse to join the Children and Families Health Visiting Service within East Renfrewshire HSCP. The successful candidate will support children and families to improve health and wellbeing as part of the Health Visiting Team, contributing to the delivery of the Scottish Government's Healthy Child Programme and the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC). The role includes assessing health needs, identifying vulnerabilities in children aged 0 to 5 years, and providing targeted interventions and support for children and families, including those with neurodevelopmental differences and additional support needs.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Permanent, full-time - 36 hours per week
• Shift pattern - Monday – Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm
• Base location - Barrhead Council Offices

Essential Qualifications And Experience

Training and Development

• Training in the Psychology of Parenting Programme (PoPP) will be provided.
• Completion of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Children and Families induction programmes.
• Training in the National Practice Model and EMIS system.
• Ongoing support for continuous professional development (CPD).
