Job description

Health & Safety Manager

Scantec Recruitment is working with a leading FMCG Food manufacturing business in Manchester to assist in their search for a H&S Manager. This role offers growth and long-term career development, with exposure to various ongoing HSE projects.

As the H&S Manager, you will sit on the Senior Leadership Team and focus on fostering a strong HSE culture, ensuring excellent HSE management by providing expert advice across the site. Your responsibilities include managing all HSE requirements and maintaining compliance with current statutory and legislative regulations.

Experience in FMCG/Food is not essential but preferred; candidates from Manufacturing, Engineering, or Construction backgrounds are also suitable.

Hours of work:

• Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm

Core responsibilities:

• Deliver best-in-class Health, Safety, and Environmental solutions across the site
• Build and embed a safety culture to ensure the site is a safe place to work and visit
• Plan, support, and implement robust HSE practices
• Set SMART health, safety, and environmental objectives with the SLT
• Maintain and review risk assessments, impact assessments, and the site HSE risk register
• Influence and challenge stakeholders to educate and promote the HSE agenda

Required Skills and Experience:

• Previous senior-level Safety, Health, and Environmental experience within Manufacturing
• Experience developing a HSE culture
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety)
• IEMA Foundation Certificate or other recognized Environmental qualification (advantageous)
