Qualifications

Health & Safety Manager

Salary – Grade 10
Hours – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location – Lostock, CW9 7ZR

As a Health & Safety Manager at FCC Environment, you will play a critical role in shaping and maintaining our safety culture. You will advise Directors and Managers across the business, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and promoting a proactive approach to health, safety, and wellbeing.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Advising on health, safety, and welfare matters to ensure compliance with legal and company standards
  • Conducting inspections, investigations, and risk assessments, and producing reports
  • Monitoring and guiding operational managers, supervisors, and safety representatives across the Group
  • Leading by example in promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and risk reduction
  • Keeping up to date with current legislation and ensuring it is implemented across the organisation
  • Co-ordinating with regulatory bodies such as the HSE and Fire Services
  • Delivering health and safety training internally
  • Supporting the development and implementation of safety plans in line with business objectives
  • Prohibiting unsafe activities and acting swiftly in high-risk situations
What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who’s not just qualified—but passionate about making a real difference in workplace safety.

You will have:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent)
  • A Graduate membership of IOSH (minimum)
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and practices
  • Experience in the waste and recycling sector (preferred)
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • A full, valid UK driving licence
