Role - Health & Safety Apprentice (Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician Qualification)

Location - Ashford

Salary - 1st year salary £22,500 per annum

Hours of Work - Full Time, Monday to Friday (with flexibility)

The Interview Selection Centre will be held in June 2025. You will need to be available to attend if successfully selected for interview.

We are looking for a Health & Safety Apprentice to join our Health, Safety & Environment Team here in Ashford, Kent where the magic happens as we create some of Britain’s favourite brands – Angel Delight, Batchelor’s and Paxo.

Working in partnership with RHG Consult, we are offering a 2-year apprenticeship programme where you will achieve a Safety, Health & Environment Technician Level 3 qualification. You will gain skills to the highest level following an established apprenticeship programme as you journey towards becoming a Health & Safety Advisor.

And when you successfully complete your programme, we will support you to develop your skills further.

What you’ll be doing:

During your apprenticeship you will be working on site for 5 days per week alongside experienced team members who will support and mentor you, building capability and problem-solving techniques to confidently evaluate and implement solutions.

You will study online with our provider RHG Consult, spending one day per week working towards achieving your qualification. This could be attending a virtual classroom lesson or workshop, having 1:1 meeting with your tutor, completing online resources, completing research, or working on evidence to put in your portfolio. You will also meet regularly with your coach and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme as expected. Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded a Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship, IOSH Approved Level 4 Accident Investigation Course and will be eligible to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at TechIOSH level, and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) at Affiliate level.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Work to gain basic understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations and management systems
• Running projects that add real impact and value across the site
• Provide support across the HSE team with accident/incident investigations
• Learning skills in risk management and helping to implement continuous improvement projects
• Build an understanding of HSE culture and help drive improvements across the site
• Participate in health and safety inspection and audit programmes
  
  
  

What we need from you:

• A minimum of 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 4/ C or above, including Maths, Science and English
• A real interest in health and safety (and have a passion for food!)
• Drive, enthusiasm and commitment to learning new skills, seeking opportunities for personal development and passing on knowledge to others
• The ability to communicate effectively and engage positively and proactively with colleagues across the site and group
• Being proficient in various IT systems and software and demonstrating a keen eye for accuracy and precision
