Job summary

SEDR Recruitment Ltd seeks a Health & Safety Advisor to join a major civil engineering project in Saxmundham, East Suffolk, with plans to expand to UK-wide projects. You will deliver practical HSE guidance, support on-site teams, and uphold safety standards throughout delivery.

With two to three years at Tier 1/2 civil contractor level desired, you will drive RAMS, inductions and audits, and progress towards Chartered IOSH status.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction health and safety on civil engineering projects.
• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate is a minimum requirement.
• IOSH membership and commitment to progressing towards Chartered status.
• Good understanding of CDM responsibilities and risk management.
• Ability to lead investigations and identify root causes.
• Willingness to travel nationally including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and maintenance of Project Management Plans, Construction Phase Plans and HSE performance measures.
• Develop, review and approve RAMS, task briefings and Permit to Dig arrangements within your competence.
• Deliver site inductions and support toolbox talks, safety briefings and behavioural safety initiatives.
• Provide practical technical HSE advice to help site teams plan, manage and monitor work safely.
• Review upcoming activities, identify risks and communicate appropriate control measures.
• Support incident response, notification and investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Promote compliance with HSE procedures through coaching and workforce engagement.
• Carry out site inspections and audits, monitor trends and follow up improvement actions.
• Maintain accurate site records and prepare regular HSE progress reports.
• Attend client and project meetings, providing clear updates on HSE matters.
