Job summary

SEDR Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to support civil engineering works in East Suffolk. This site-based role involves working closely with delivery teams to promote safe working practices and provide practical advice on HSE matters.

You will help plan, monitor and improve health and safety performance on site, building strong relationships with managers and subcontractors while ensuring work is carried out safely and in compliance with CDM requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering or construction health and safety.
• Ability to review RAMS and construction phase plans.
• Proven reporting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical health and safety advice to site teams and management.
• Carry out site inspections and audits, follow-up on corrective actions.
• Support RAMS and construction phase plan preparation and reviews.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Monitor safe systems of work and Permit to Dig procedures.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and preventative actions.
• Maintain health and safety records and KPI reporting.
• Promote behavioural safety and encourage raising concerns.
• Work with managers, supervisors and subcontractors to maintain safety and environmental standards.

We are recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to support civil engineering works in East Suffolk. This is a site-based opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with delivery teams, promoting safe working practices and providing practical advice.

The role

You will support site management in planning, monitoring and improving health and safety performance. You’ll be visible on site, building relationships with teams and helping ensure work is carried out safely.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical health and safety advice to site teams and management.
• Carry out site inspections and audits, following up on corrective actions.
• Support the preparation and review of RAMS, construction phase plans and other HSE documentation.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Monitor safe systems of work, including Permit to Dig procedures.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and preventative actions.
• Maintain health and safety records and contribute to KPI reporting.
• Promote behavioural safety and encourage teams to raise concerns.
• Work with managers, supervisors and subcontractors to maintain safety and environmental standards.

What we’re looking for

• Health and safety experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, earthworks or a closely related construction environment.
• A practical understanding of construction risks, including heavy plant, excavations and underground services.
• Experience reviewing RAMS, conducting inspections and delivering site briefings.
• Knowledge of CDM requirements and construction health and safety practices.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge unsafe working practices constructively.
• Good organisational skills and accurate reporting.

Location and travel

The role is initially based in East Suffolk. Candidates must be willing to travel and lodge away from home as required, including for future projects across the UK.

Salary

£40,000–£50,000 per year, depending on experience.
