Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS is seeking a compassionate Health Care Assistant to join the team in delivering patient care. The role involves supporting patients on their journey to recovery under the supervision of a registered nurse, and carrying out delegated care tasks with strong literacy and numeracy skills.

The post holder will work flexibly across clinical areas, taking initiative where appropriate while maintaining safety and adhering to local policies.

• Work alongside healthcare professionals to help patients on their journey to recovery.
• Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.
• Carry out care and treatment tasks delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring numeracy and literacy and interpersonal skills.
• Provide cover for other areas as required with flexibility and initiative.

Job description

The successful candidate will work as part of a team with the support of highly skilled nurses and practice educator to develop a range of clinical skills.

• Work alongside a healthcare professionals to help patients on their journey to recovery. Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.
• To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
• To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
• The post holder will generally work with close supervision by and within well established procedures and practices.
• The post holder is required to use a degree of initiative and deal with matters independently where they can but should know when to elevate to a registered nurse, nurse in change and or the manager.
• Maintaining safety, working withing local policies and procedure
