Job summary

Three Spires Medical Practice in Cornwall seeks a part-time Healthcare Assistant to assist in dermatology daycases and a see-and-treat service. You will work with the nurse team and support GP/ Dermatology clinicians in clinics and minor procedures.

Ideal candidates have NVQ3 in HCA/Health & Social Care, GCSEs in English and Maths, and experience in primary care with strong IT and communication skills. Shifts start at 8:30am and include early finishes; Cornwall location.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in primary care or GP settings.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health Care Assistant or Health and Social Care.
• GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C) or higher Level 2 equivalents.
• Fully trained in assisting minor operations.
• Good communication in written and verbal form.
• Strong IT skills and ability to use practice systems.

Responsibilities

• Assisting dermatology daycases and see-and-treat service.
• Venepuncture and phlebotomy tasks as required.
• Support with minor operations in theatre or consulting room.
• Provide care under supervision of nurses/GPs.
• Deliver patient-centred care and maintain patient records.

Job description

Assisting with Dermatology daycases and our 'see and treat' Dermatology service, you may also get involved with providing health care services and venepuncture., Minor operations and/or dermatology experience essential as you will be assisting in our Dermatology clinics (a 'see and treat' service). If you also have excellent venepuncture skills and the ability to carry out a range of duties including administering immunisations, urinalysis, BP and ECG monitoring then even better! We have a range of shifts to suit your availability (hours are a minimum of 16 per week and between 8.30am and 5pm); immediate start available., Working with the nurse team, providing care for patients as directed by the practice nurse or GP; the post holder will be required to use their own initiative but must be able to recognise their own limitations and seek guidance where necessary. Dermatology practice includes assisting the Consultant Dermatologist or GPwSI in dermatology clinics either in the consulting room or the minor operations theatre.

• Experience of working in primary care
• Experience of working in a GP Practice, - Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in HCA or Health and Social Care.

• Our Cornwall Skin Clinic (dermatology) is seeking part-time experienced HCAs to join our busy and friendly team.
• The clinic is part of Three Spires Medical Practice and is situated in Truro city, Cornwall., The Three Spires Medical Practice is a large, forward-thinking GP Practice with a friendly team (comprising 20 GPs, a team of 6 nurses and 11 HCAs and our own physiotherapy team), who look after approximately 18,000 patients in and around Truro City. We are a training practice which means that you may have medical students observing and participating in your clinical sessions. No two days are the same and a shift is never dull!
