Job summary

HUC is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join a busy multidisciplinary team. You will work under supervision to deliver high-quality patient care, perform health checks, phlebotomy tasks, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs and wound care, while supporting clinical and administrative colleagues to maintain QOF targets.

The role emphasises compassionate, organized, reliable care and effective teamwork in a busy primary care setting with a focus on patient-centred services.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 healthcare or relevant training completed.
• Evidence of statutory mandatory training and willingness to attend further training.
• Calm, organized and patient-focused practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct new patient health checks.
• Monitor blood pressure and hypertension.
• Assist with dressings, wound care, swabs and urinalysis.
• Support coil fittings and signpost to other services.
• Help with safeguarding and infection prevention practices.
• Support QOF reporting with clinical and admin teams.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated, caring and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive practice team.

The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of high-quality patient care and provide support to healthcare professionals within our multidisciplinary team, working under the supervision of a clinician and within the agreed parameters of practice.

This is a varied and rewarding role, with duties including new patient health checks, phlebotomy, blood pressure and hypertension monitoring, ECGs, weight management, dressings and removal of sutures, swabs and urinalysis, chaperoning, and supporting coil fittings.

You will also contribute to health promotion, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, cold-chain and stock management, as well as signposting patients to appropriate healthcare services. An important part of the role will be working closely with our clinical and administrative teams to support the achievement, monitoring and maintenance of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, organised, reliable and committed to providing excellent patient-centred care, with the ability to work effectively as part of a busy multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

• New patient health checks

• Dressing and ROS
• Swabs and urinalysis
• Supporting coil fittings
• Signposting and or referring patient to other healthcare services.
• Supporting Quality Outcomes Framework by working closely with the clinical and administrative team to report, audit and meet and maintain targets
• Cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.
• Re-stocking and stock rotation
• Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
• Supporting adult/child safeguarding
• Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
