  6. Carry out health and safety audits and investigations in a planned and systematic way, which will include undertaking audits of high-risk areas and providing reports and action plans in line with the Council's Health and Safety Audit Plan.
  7. Liaise with HSE Inspectors, Fire Prevention Officers, and similar bodies to ensure appropriate notifications and returns are made in respect of appropriate legislation.
  8. Liaise with relevant parties regarding claims arising from accidents at work, including insurers, solicitors, and HSE Executive.
  9. Liaise with health and safety co-ordinators within the Directorates to ensure consistency of approach to health, safety, and welfare and provide corporate information to safety representatives as required.

Core Values:

  1. Integrity in our actions - We are open, honest, and fair; communicate accurately and keep our promises. We act within the law and the Council's Constitution and policies.
  2. Accountability for our performance - We accept personal responsibility, not seeking to blame others and apologise if we get things wrong.
  3. Co-operation with Councillors, colleagues, and partners - We share ideas, knowledge, and resources; we are friendly towards, listen to, and respect each other, and work in teams to deliver excellence.
  4. Objectivity in our decisions - We base our decisions on evidence, welcome challenge, and take account of alternative opinions and the wider picture.
  5. Efficiency to keep overall costs down - We constantly improve our value for money, learn from good practice, eliminate waste, and make the most of our assets.
  6. Confidence to try things out - We give our people encouragement, authority, and support to be creative and flexible in how they deliver services; learning from things that go wrong when we experiment.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Significant experience in the provision of Health and Safety advice and support at a senior level in the public sector or a similar organisation.
  2. Experience of undertaking health and safety related audits across a wide range of areas.
