Job summary

Principal People Recruitment is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor for a home-based role visiting sites around the North of England. You will support external ISO 45001 audits, provide safety guidance, and ensure compliance with legislation while promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will join a dedicated safety team and travel approximately twice monthly. NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 is required, plus a driving licence and ability to work remotely.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work remotely and autonomously.
• Experience in health and safety within charity, care, NHS, local government or similar.
• Understanding of auditing and management systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel around the Northern region.

Responsibilities

• Visit sites across the Northern region roughly twice a month for ISO 45001 audits prep.
• Provide health and safety guidance via site visits and remote support.
• Ensure processes and policies comply with legislation and best practice.
• Review safety reporting and provide management with regular performance reports.
• Monitor incidents and lead investigations where appropriate.

Job description

We are currently working exclusively with an established health and social care charity to recruit a new Health and Safety Advisor to the business. This is a home-based role visiting sites around the North of England - offering you a lot of freedom, autonomy, and promoting a positive work-life balance. The focus of this position is to support sites to prepare for external audits and maintain a high level of safety and compliance.

Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, you will be part of a dedicated and experienced safety team. In this role you will:

• Visit sites around the Northern region approximately twice a month in preparation for external ISO 45001 audits.
• Provide health and safety guidance and advice to management and staff through site visits and remote support.
• Ensure all health and safety processes and policies are in place and compliant with legislation, best practice, and business strategies.
• Review safety reporting and provide regular reports on health and safety statistics and performance to management, giving recommendations on areas of focus.
• Monitor reported incidents, supporting management and leading on investigations where appropriate.
