Job summary

Shirley Parsons seeks a Health & Safety Advisor for an office-based role in Manchester with site visits to support projects. The role offers a salary up to £60,000 plus travel expenses covered and a path to influence HSE standards across multiple fit-out projects.

The successful candidate will maintain and improve ISO 45001/14001/9001 systems, conduct audits, and guide project teams while fostering a proactive safety culture within a family-run environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Health & Safety Advisor or similar role within construction, fit-out or interiors.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ISO management systems (45001, 14001, 9001) across live fit-out projects.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Provide practical health and safety guidance to project teams, managers and subcontractors.
• Support incident investigations and identify corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and best practice.
• Assist with internal and external audits and accreditation.
• Develop and deliver toolbox talks, briefings and training initiatives.
• Produce and review RAMS, policies and procedures.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team and play a key role in driving health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across the business.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems while ensuring compliance across multiple fit-out projects.

The role will primarily be office-based in Manchester, with site visits undertaken as required to support project teams and conduct audits and inspections.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and continually improve the company's management systems in line with:
• ISO 45001
• ISO 14001
• ISO 9001
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments across live fit-out projects.
• Provide practical health and safety guidance to project teams, managers and subcontractors.
• Support incident investigations and identify corrective and preventative actions.
• Monitor compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring ongoing accreditation compliance.
• Develop and deliver toolbox talks, briefings and training initiatives.
• Produce and review RAMS, policies and procedures where required.
• Promote a positive safety culture across the business through engagement and collaboration.

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident communicator who enjoys working closely with people and building long-term relationships across a business.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or similar role within construction, fit-out or interiors.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to influence and engage employees at all levels.
• Practical, solutions-focused approach to health and safety.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Relevant membership with IOSH or working towards Chartered status.
• Experience within fast-paced fit-out, refurbishment or interior projects.
