Job summary

Head Waiter/Waitress at a luxury hotel in Ripon is seeking an experienced front-of-house leader to uphold the highest service standards. You will be assisting the restaurant manager with the operating of the fine dining restaurant and ensuring guests enjoy a premium experience.

You will meet and greet guests, manage reservations, lead and inspire staff, and handle cash, payments, and banking while ensuring smooth rotas and staffing levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in a management role within a fine dining restaurant.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• PC literate with Outlook, Excel and Word proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist the restaurant manager with operating the fine dining restaurant and guest experience.
• Meet and greet customers, manage reservations, lead and inspire staff.
• Count cash, reconcile payments and banking; manage rotas/staffing levels.
• Ensure customers receive impeccable service and maintain professional standards.

About the Hotel

This country house hotel dates back to the 17th century and stayed within the same family for over 200 years until the early 1990’s, since then this country house has entertained Queen Mary, became a convalescence home for injured soldiers in the Second World War, a adult training centre and then became a private residence until 2015 when it was privately purchased to undergo a multi mullion pound transformation into Yorkshire’s latest luxury Relais & Chateaux hotel.

Working as a Head Waiter/Waitress

As a Head Waiter/Waitress you will be assisting the restaurant manager with the operating the fine dining restaurant, assisting and supporting the restaurant manager ensuring that customers experience the highest level of service. You will be responsible for meeting and greeting customers, organising table reservations, to lead manage and inspire staff, counting cash, reconciling payments and banking, responsible for rotas/staffing levels, taking customers food orders and ensuring customers receive impeccable service.

The successful person will have previous experience in a management role within a fine dining restaurant, be passionate about delivering outstanding service, have strong written and oral communication skills, PC literate with full understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and word.

In addition to your excellent customer service skills, you should be a punctual and reliable team player with strong communication skills, a self driven approach, and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
