Job summary

SYSTRA in London seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design efforts across UK rail projects, delivering safe, compliant and cost-efficient solutions.

You will manage engineering schedules, develop the Engineering Management Plan, mentor engineers, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project success. Hybrid work and leadership in a dynamic team are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in a design management role involving engagement with stakeholders.
• Experience on civil engineering or building projects in the UK with railway system interfaces.
• Line manager responsibility for design/technical managers.

Responsibilities

• Produce and manage the Engineering Management Plan for allocated projects.
• Implement systems to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation.
• Assess and monitor the competence of Engineers working on projects and appoint discipline engineers within the functional discipline and provide functional guidance, direction and briefing.
• Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects and ensure that all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards applicable to their discipline.
• Maintain a robust IDC process and chair design integration IDR and IDC reviews.
• Management of Engineering schedules and deliverables.
• Undertake standards briefings.
• Identify and document any derogations / non-compliances.
• Manage technical change through design development.
• Apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.
